Remedies: Herbal Medicine & Beyond

Remedies come in many forms. As a trained and licensed East Asian Medicine practitioner with a grounding in Western and Ayurvedic herbal traditions, I offer tinctures, decoctions, liniments etc. for a wide-range of people and conditions. Additionally, I work with handmade, therapeutic incense and aromatic medicines. I will incorporate Jyotish-based upāya (astrological remedies) as appropriate.

 

Please keep in mind that medicine and astrology are historically sister sciences that have only recently been sundered in the West, to the detriment of both disciplines. ​​

Jyotish-Based Remedies

Beyond the medical realm, the Jyotish tradition offers remedies to counteract difficult karmic currents and to support positive potentials.

 

These upāya or skillful means can include:

​

            - puja (ritual worship)

            - jāpa (mantra recitation)

            - ratna (specific consecrated gemstones)

            - seva (targed service work) 

            - dāna (charity)

            - yantra, mantra, tantra yathā vidyā (various esoteric techniques)

 

With a working knowledge of these approaches, I am comfortable both within and outside the traditional Hindu context. Translation: many clients are non-Indians, and there is no need for anyone to adopt unfamiliar religious or spiritual practices in order to see results. The insights of Jyotish can be applied flexibly and in a variety of contexts.

Note for those seeking Vedic gemstone recommendations: not everyone has a suitable jyotish gemstone, in fact only an estimated 30%-40% of natal charts have a stone that will be effective and reasonably free of side effects. Even then, the purchased stone must be of suitable quality, which is rare. Djed does not sell gemstones but if there is a stone that would be a good fit, he can point you in the right direction and link you with reputable vendors.​
